Once again the hills around Todmorden are about to come alive to the sound of music.
This is because the Todmorden Choral Society is due to begin its new season on Wednesday, August 28, writes John Hodgson.
Rehearsals start at 7.30pm at Central Methodist Church in Todmorden and take place each week.
The choir has a great many advantages to offer its members. Firstly everyone is made most welcome and there are no auditions, so if you are interested, come along. Furthermore it has a fine reputation for good singing under the leadership of Antony Brannick who leads the choir to heights of excellence.
This year they start their series of concerts with a varied programme on October 19 at St Mary’s Church, Todmorden. Later in the year the choir will sing Handel’s “Messiah” with Todmorden Orchestra at Todmorden Town Hall on November 24. There will be a Christmas Concert, again with the Todmorden Orchestra, on December 15 at Todmorden Town Hall.
Looking ahead to 2014, the choir will sing Brahm’s “Requiem” on April 13.
