Todmorden High School opened its doors to the new year seven students for their induction day.

The day was designed to give our new students the opportunity to get to know their new school and their new friends.

The students spent the day on a number of different activities which included a drama session with the new head of performing arts.

They learnt how to use their bodies as a prop and used this concept, working as a team, to create household items such as vacuum cleaners and to also create a room in the house such as a bathroom.

The students also took part in team building activities which were organised by Mixenden Activity Centre.

They had to learn how to overcome obstacles such as not being able to speak to one another, yet still working as a team. The sun was shining throughout the day and the students were able to enjoy a barbecue lunch prepared by our very own catering team, and spent the lunchtime playing football and cricket. Throughout the day, there were three tablet computers up for grabs for the best overall student, the best performer and the student who demonstrated the best leadership skills.

All students worked really hard throughout the day and it was exceptionally difficult to pick an overall winner for these three categories as there were many students that deserved to win. It was a pleasure to have the students with us for the day and everyone at Todmorden High School is really looking forward to welcoming them all to the school in September.
