Following the controversy over Calderdale Council’s decision not to stock Cards for Good Causes cards at its information centres at Halifax and Hebden Bridge this year, the independently-run Todmorden Information Centre, Burnley Road, which does stock them, has seen an increase in customers to buy them, says Cynthia Murray of the Todmorden centre’s trust.

Cards for Good Causes volunteers Sue Lord and Sue Watkins have been delighted with this year’s sales so far. They said: “We are really pleased with the public support already given to the charity cards sales this season.

“Cards for Good Causes Ltd pays participating charities at least 75p in every pound from their card sales, less VAT payable on the amount retained by CFGC. The retained amount covers CFGC’s running costs. The participating charities pay for production and distribution of their cards.”
