A festive feast of music will be held in the run-up to Christmas to raise funds for next year’s Hebden Bridge Piano Festival.

Festival organiser Dave Nelson has planned another of his annual family Christmas singalongs at Hebden Bridge Town Hall on Saturday, December 21, at 4.30pm.

The singalong, which has become a fixture in the festive calendar over the past 20 years, is an old-fashioned, “round the piano” opportunity to sing Christmas songs and carols. The event is being run in partnership with the town hall and will raise funds for the 2014 piano festival.

“We’re staging plenty of free and family events during the festival, so there’s a need to raise money to help cover the cost of those,” Dave said.

“It seemed really appropriate to combine forces with our great supporters at the town hall and make the Christmas singalong bigger and better than ever.”

Also on the singalong programme are Alyssium, who will perform some up-tempo extracts from Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols”, and Wainsgate Waits, who will perform four-part medieval carols.

Tickets go on sale on Monday, December 2, and will be available from the town hall reception and online at www.hebdenbridgepianofestival.com/christmas.
