Simple shoeboxes mean so much

Christmas shoeboxes filled with gifts for our disadvantaged are being collected by Rotary in Calderdale from participating outlets.

Slowly, shoeboxes are being returned; filled with toys, food, toiletries and warm clothing accessories suitable for boys, girls, men or women who are in need of a box filled with love, from you.

With temperatures set to plummet, Rotary is asking for winter-warmers: hats, scarves and gloves - especially for those in a vulnerable position this winter, including our elderly and homeless members of society.

Rotary scheme co-ordinator Bryan Harkness said: “Collection of shoeboxes has been slower this year.

“There is no timescale for closure - Rotary is happy to collect and distribute right up to a few days before Christmas, but the sooner the better as shoebox requests from charities have flooded into Voluntary Action for Calderdale. Please collect a box today as we would like to exceed last year’s total of 2,400 distributed throughout Calderdale.”

Please collect your Rotary shoebox from participating outlets: Halifax: Asda, Courier reception; Harveys Cook Shop, Morrisons, Tesco, TS Moodies, Southgate, Sainsbury’s. Brighouse: Tesco. Elland: Morrisons. Hebden Bridge: Co-operative. Sowerby Bridge: Tesco. Todmorden: Morrisons.

If you are a large organisation and require an amount of shoeboxes please contact VAC 01422 438728. Or, if you are a charity that wishes for clients to benefit from the campaign please contact VAC.
