After a 381-run defeat in Brisbane to Australia, England’s bid to retain the Ashes Down Under took an unexpected battering.
The loss of No 3 batsman Jonathan Trott shortly after that heavy defeat at The Gabba has only deepened England’s troubles, although it has opened up a number of opportunities for other players - most notably Yorkshire’s Joe Root, Gary Ballance and Jonny Bairstow.
With a return to the England squad for the second Test of a fourth Yorkshireman in the shape of Tim Bresnan, our Ashes panel of ex-cricketer McGrath and Yorkshire Post cricket correspondent Chris Waters, discuss all the implications and possible outcomes with host Phil Harrison ahead of the first day’s play in Adelaide.
