If you have a tow bar on your vehicle, could you help out Father Christmas?
Todmorden Lions’ Santa Sleigh will be doing the rounds as often as possible in the run up to Christmas, to try and give as many children as possible the chance to meet him.
It is subject to the weather - the sleigh has to stay out of action in excessively wet or snowy and icy weather - but on a handful of dates the Lions team need a bit of help to get the sleigh out onto the road and Father Christmas out on his rounds.
Lion Rod Wainwright explained that several Lions have tow bars on their cars to take the sleigh out, but there are several dates on which they are unable to undertake the journey for work reasons.
“We have several members who take the sleigh out but are unavailable on some days because they are work when we start.
“We set off at 5.30pm, usually finishing around 7.30pm, bedtime for the younger children.
“So we are especially short of someone to tow the sleigh and be Rudolph for the night,” he said.
The dates the Lions are looking for frivers for bare: Friday, December 6, Wednesday, December 11, Friday, December 13, Wednesday, December 18 and Friday, December 20.
Rod said: “Afterwards we meet up at a Lion’s house for a hot supper and a good social evening.
“There is one important factor - potential drivers have to check their insurance to make sure they are covered for towing.”
