Whilst I sympathise with Hebden residents’ concerns over additional supermarkets in their town, I would urge people to “be careful what you wish for...”.
Here in Todmorden, councillors disregarded their own planners’ advice and we are now left with a number of large eyesore sites in some of our most prominent positions.
There seems to be no movement at all on developing these sites or even tidying them up.
The council has powers to enforce so-called “owners” to at least improve the appearance of the sites - why aren’t they using these powers?
In their current state these eyesores are unlikely to attract visitors or permanent new residents into what is actually a lovely place to live.
