The exhibition of watercolour paintings on display at Todmorden Information Centre, throughout February features the work of the late Hubert Town.

Hubert, who died in 2006, was well known in Todmorden and the surrounding areas for his watercolours, both of the local area and other parts of the country, with the Yorkshire Dales being a particular favourite.

Hubert Town, who was a founding member of Todmorden Players, was also a loyal member of Todmorden Art Club for many years and after he retired he would frequently set off with his sketching pad on the look out for his next work of art.

He carried on painting well into his nineties until he was forced by ill health to stop.

During his life he undertook many commissions and there are numerous houses in Todmorden where his paintings still hang in pride of place.

His son, Geoffrey, and his daughter-in-law, Jennifer, recently moved house and although they themselves have several of his paintings, they decided that the surplus ones should be exhibited and sold with all proceeds going to Todmorden Information Centre for the benefit of the town.

The exhibition is on display for the duration of February at Todmorden Information Centre, which is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.

If anyone is interested in exhibiting their work they can contact the Information Centre on 01706 818181, or download the application form from the website - you should log on to www.visittodmorden.co.uk.
