As we approach the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, Year 10 and 11 historians had the opportunity to listen to the experiences of a woman who grew up in and around Sheffield during the conflict.
Sheffield was heavily bombed due to the steelworks, and Ms Zeb shared her memories of bombing raids and taking shelter, rationing, propaganda and the role of women.
These are the topics being studied by the students for their GCSE history coursework and will help them with their knowledge and understanding.
Students also reflected on the global citizenship topic of war and the impact on non-combatants, including refugees and their experiences, not only in World War II but also today.
Ms Zeb provided students with a number of written anecdotes to assist students in their research and the session was followed with a question and answer session.
