Most Burnley fans like to see the team’s name alongside the big clubs, and author Dave Thomas is no exception.
Todmorden-born but Leeds-based, Dave has been the major writer of high quality books about the club for the past decade, beginning with his look at a season in the life of Stan Ternent’s team in “It’s Burnley, Not Barcelona” and taking in revealing portraits of Willie Irvine, Jimmy McIlroy, Harry Potts, Paul Fletcher, Roger Eli and Jimmy Adamson, as well as two indispensible No Nay Never anthologies.
His next project will be to produce a 128-page Burnley “Charles Buchan’s Football Monthly” gift book, reproducing Burnley material of that era from the best-selling football monthly of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
To date only the “big” clubs Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have had a volume produced, and it’s Dave’s aim to once again put the Clarets up there with them.
It will cost £20 (plus £7 post and packing) and Dave will need around 300 expressions of interest before it can go ahead for sure - he is already over half way and it is recommended to get these to him soon, as it is likely only 1,000 copies will be produced.
