Donations in memory of a Todmorden Cricket Club stalwart have raised more than £1,000 for two good causes.
Collections taken in memory of Richard Crossland raised £1,300 and £650 each will be given to the Macmillan Unit and the colorectal LGI unit, both at Calderdale Royal Hospital, which offer support to those with bowel cancer.
Richard’s wife Lesley said the family had been overwhelmed by the support they had received following Richard’s death in December, receiving more than 1oo cards and messages of support from many in the cricket world. Richard had held many positions at the Centre Vale club in four decades of involvement. It is hoped that during the new season a bench in Richard’s memory will be placed on a patio area.
Last summer he raised more than £7,000 for cancer charities through a sponsored walk of the Pennine Way.
