Mytholmroyd Walkers’ Action (MWA) is leading the way when it comes to signposting child-friendly routes around the village.
To tie in with the new “Making Tracks in Mytholmroyd” booklet, designed and illustrated by Jo Poyser, members have put up waymark signs for the six children’s walks featured in the document.
The motifs, funded by a Hebden Royd Town Council grant, feature bluebells (the Woodland Walk), a ladybird (the Meadow Walk), a bumble bee (the Bee Boles Walk), a birch leaf (the Silver Birch Walk), an acorn (the Nature Walk, going up to the nature reserve at Broadhead Clough), and a gnome (the Gnome House Walk).
MWA member Rose Wheeler said: “Lots of improvements have been carried out to the various paths included in the six walks. The Silver Birch walk from Mytholmroyd Railway Station along the cycle track is greatly improved and useable by buggies again. And the improved canal towpath makes for a more enjoyable walk for three of the routes - the Bee Boles Walk, the Meadow Walk and the Woodland Walk.”
