There has been a resilience to Burnley Football Club that has been key to the successful 2013-14 season, and nowhere was it more on show that when Scott Arfield’s strike snatched a vital point for Clarets at Watford last Saturday.
And Burnley, who had only won once at Oakwell in 70 years before Tuesday night, laid another long-standing taboo to rest when Ashley Barnes’s flick brought all three points back to Lancashire - and kept Burnley well on course for the second Championship promotion spot, needing just a couple of wins to put it to bed.
If they keep this up on Saturday at home to Middlesbrough, it would be virtually all over, although Derby are resolutely clinging on, ‘Arry’s QPR seemingly with the wheels off their wagon.
Both would have to perform very, very well to unseat the Clarets now, and in truth the Clarets have rarely looked like being unseated throughout the whole campaign.
It helps, of course, that you have players to bring back this week, Dean Marney from suspension, Danny Ings and Kieran Trippier from injury.
Burnley have well weathered a storm when things suddenly got bleak, at the business end of the season.
I hope the sun’s out on Saturday.
