Steve Hillage and Miquette Girandy’s System 7 gig at Hebden Bridge Trades Club on Saturday night has already sold out, but there are tickets left for the former Gong star’s “Afternoon With...” session on Sunday.

Always popular in appearances at the club, System 7 sees Hillage still making expermiental music almost 40 yrears on from his seminal Fish Rising set.

With songsmith Nick Harper at the club tomorrow evening and Carlton Melton bringing their brand of psychedelia to Holme Street next Wednesday, April 16, it is a week of musical variety.

Then it’s on to one of the more intriguing dates a the colub a week today, when April 17 is Delia Darbyshire Day.

For those who may not know, Delia Darbyshire was the lynchpin of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, producing all sorts of eerie and unusual music including, perhaps most famously, the Doctor Who theme music and many other effects, often conjured up using the most surprising “instruments”.

With a live talk from the Delia Darlings, which features a 45-minute audio/visual collage of the late genius’s work, plus three special musical commissions, also accompanied by digital art commissions, it is bound to be never less than interesting.

It is a part of a tour, only including a few dates, dedicated to Delia’s memory this and each year.

As usual, ticket prices and other details can be found on the club’s website, www.thetradesclub.com
