Bridgeholme claimed one good scalp over the weekend but were unable to add an even bigger one in Sunday’s Parish Cup.

The Eastwood side went top of the second division in the Foster’s Halifax League with an emphatic victory over previously-unbeaten Cullingworth in the battle of the leading pair.

Bridgeholme took a one-point lead at the top, with a game in hand, courtesy of an eight-wicket home success.

Cullingworth were sent in to bat and were rolled over for 81 thanks to a stunning performance from the home attack.

Mohammed Asif conceded only two runs in seven overs and took two wickets. Nazakat Ali bagged four for 36 and Saj Mahmood four for 21.

Mohammed Basharat (16) and Bobby Fielden (20) laid solid foundations with an opening stand of 41 and Yasir Mahmood (17 no) and James Hudson (24 no) completed the job.

Bridgeholme bumped into much tougher opposition away to Premier side Warley in the second round of the Parish Cup on Sunday.

Mahmood made a superb 93 and helped the visitors to 200 on a difficult wicket.

However, Warley snuffed out hopes of an upset with a five wicket win, reaching their target with three overs to spare.

Booth are the Calder Valley’s remaining survivors in the Parish Cup and they have been drawn away to Copley - where they won by four runs on Saturday - in the last eight.

Cup draws - Parish Cup: Southowram v SBCI, Blackley v Warley, Copley v Booth, Jer Lane v Thornton. Crossley Shield: Queensbury v Wibsey, Triangle v Copley or Warley, Northowram HT v Jer Lane, Booth v Mytholmroyd.

Games on Sunday, June 15.
