A church service followed by an open gardens event decorated with a “Rainbow of Ribbons” takes place on Sunday, August 10, where you can make a donation in memory of someone who has added colour to your life.

The Overgate Hospice event is being held at St Mary’s Church, Todmorden, and this week the grounds have already begun to be bedecked with ribbons ahead of the event, which will include a service about the day at 11am, followed by the open gardens part of the day at 12.30pm., running to about 1.30pm.

Lauren Barber, of the Overgate team, said: “We have had donations of ribbons coming in over the last weekend and we would like people to come along and add their own ribbons and their own messages to the display.

“We have had thousands of donations in memory of people from throughout the Calder Valley and it is a colourful way to remember people’s lives. They can be in memory of anyone who has touched your life, it doesn’t necessarily have to be someone who was cared for at Overgate,” she said.

A Rainbow of Ribbons event is also being held at Overgvate Hospice itself.

“In all we hope to raise £10,000. There’s no mimimum amount, it’s what you can donate,” said Lauren. “You can also donate before and after the event - you can download a form from the hospice website at www.overgatehospice.org.uk,” she said.
