Todmorden will be hoping Shadley van Shalkwyk can demonstrate his considerable talents for them in the Lancashire League on Sunday.

The Centre Vale men will again utilise the South African as substitute professional when they host Hasligden.

Tod are yet to name a replacement for recently departed Aussie Michael Neser for Saturday’s trip to Rishton.

van Shalkwyk led the Tod attack and was unbeaten with the bat in the ill-fated home game against Church last Sunday.

Church were limited to 165 for nine in a contest reduced to 43 overs per side by rain.

van Shalkwyk took four for 52 and was 15 not out in Tod’s 32 for two when play was washed out.

Skipper Andrew Sutcliffe said: “It is a shame it rained. We chose to bowl first mainly due to the weather that was coming.

“We restricted them to 165 from 43 overs on a good wicket and we were confident of chasing them down until the rain came.”

Sutcliffe said Nigel Doyle and Paul Senior had supported van Shalkwyk well with the ball.
