Two top entertainment events have been lined up by the Mayor of Todmorden, Coun Michael Gill, to raise money for his Mayoral charities, with both shows at the Hippodrome Theatre, Halifax Road.
First up on Saturday, October 18, is An Evening With Alan Godfrey (7.30pm) where the former Todmorden policeman will talk about how he became involved in one of the world’s best documented UFO encounters while ion duty in November 1980.
Alan now rarely speaks publically about those life-changing events, but has been recently involved in two Television programmes made for Sky, one of them also featuring Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder. Tickets for this show are £10 and include a hot supper.
Then on Saturday, November 1 (7.30pm), actor, comedian, singer and storyteller Bernard Wrigley returns to the theatre.
Last time Bernard, whose TV roles include Dodgy Eric in Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights appeared at the theatre the show sold out in very quick time so the advice is to snap up tickets quickly, to see him present his unique blend of songs, stories, monologues and guitar playing. Tickets for this show are £8.
Tickets for both events are available from the Hippodrome Theatre website (www.todhip.org) or from Todmorden Information Centre (telephone 01706 818181)
Coun Gill’s charities are Independent Living Todmorden and Todmorden Hippodrome Theatre.
