An auctioneers in Luddendenfoot is to appear on BBC television when filming takes place there later this month.

The Antiques Road Trip series will be filming at Calder Valley Auctioneers on September 23.

The programme sees antiques experts set off on a road trip around the UK searching for treasures.

Mary Langley, from Calder Valley Auctioneers, said: “We’ve had the likes of Bargain Hunt and Flog It her before. I guess they like the way we treat them.

“We have to put together an auction as normal and we try to take in higher quality items if it’s going to appear on the BBC. We’ve got an excellent collection together.

“We have to leave gaps to insert they items they bring along - it’s quite a last-minute thing. The sale starts at midday and takes the normal amount of time. Our auctioneer usually gets through 100 lots an hour but to facilitate the programme it will probably take a bit longer.

“We’ll have some lovely items, including a rare piece of Chinese silver, jewellery and ceramics.

“Anyone is free to come and see the auction but if they think they’ll want to bid they’ll need to come here in advance and register.”

New buyers registering for the first time are required to bring proof of identification.

The auction will feature Royal Dux and Moorcroft, as well as fine silver, gold and jewellery, clocks and watches, vintage toys, musical instruments, oils and watercolours.

Home made refreshments will also be available on sale day. The programme is set to be shown on BBC Two later this year.

The auction house is used to the cameras being around, having featured on BBC shows like Flog It and Bargain Hu nt.
