Dancehall days led to 60 diamond years of marriage for one Hebden Bridge couple.

Frank and Marion Turner were married on September 25, 1954, at Todmorden Parish Church.

They have one daughter, Susan, as well as two grown-up grandchildren, Jordan and Nathan.

Marion, 82, is originally from Todmorden and Frank, 84 is from Hebden Bridge.

The pair locked eyes on a local walk- the ‘monkey run’ and their romance soon blossomed.Marion said: “Frank used to come to Todmorden and I used to go to Hebden Bridge.

“We used to go dancing at the Co-op dancehall and it just went from there.”

The couple courted for five years before tying the knot.

Following their wedding, the couple celebrated with a five-day honeymoon trip to the picturesque seaside resort of Southport, Merseyside.

Married life saw Frank and Marion settle in Hebden Bridge- the place they have called home for the duration of their life together.

Frank spent 51 years working for William Hall greengrocers until his retirement in 1995 and Marion worked at the Co-op.

When asked for their tips for a long-lasting marriage, Marion said: “We’re just happy, we hardly ever fall out.

“It’s been a very good 60 years.”

The couple will celebrate their milestone anniversary with a family meal at La Perla Italian Restaurant in Hebden Bridge.
