For the fifth year, Dewali celebrations return to Hebden Bridge and will again raise funds for the Hope Charity.

Taking place on Friday, October 24, at Riverside School from 5pm to 7pm, it features a mix of classical and folk dances and music from India plus a performance by children from the Indian Dance school running weekly at the Yoga Centre on Valley Road. Critically acclaimed Annapurna dance company of Halifax will lead the event.

The event has grown from 25 people getting to together in a living room in Nutclough to enjoy samosas and live Indian classical dance to last year’s event where 120 people came from all over West Yorkshire and Lancashire raising hundreds of pounds for charity and seeing excellent performances.

The night, which has a lot in common with european autumn and winter festivals in celebrating the triumph of light over darkness will end with a candlelit procession - bring l anterns and candles.

Tickets are £8 adults, £4 children, available from Satnam at the Post Office. More details from lsangha@lycos.com.
