The historic Heptonstall Methodist Church celebrated its 250th anniversary last weekend.
The church, which is one of the oldest of its kind in the world, held a programme of special events to mark the occasion.
Tea and cake was served throughout Saturday and in the afternoon, the Yorkshire and Lancashire branches of the Wesley Historical Society enjoyed a talk by Dr John Hargreaves.
Dr Hargreaves’ talk detailed the history of Methodism in the Calder Valley and discussed the pivotal role Heptonstall Methodist Church played in the origins and development of Methodism within the district.
On Saturday evening, visitors enjoyed a concert featuring the Elland Male Voice Choir and members of the Hebden Bridge Brass Band.
The celebrations continued into Sunday as Revd. Kenneth Howcroft, President of the Methodist Conference, delivered a circuit service at the church.
Revd. Christine Perry, Minister of Heptonstall Methodist Church, said: “It was very busy and everyone really enjoyed themselves.
“It was a great celebration weekend.”
