Todmorden Borough will be hoping it is third time lucky as they prepare for a re-arranged home West Lancashire League Division Two clash against Milnthorpe Corinthians.
Borough saw last weekend’s scheduled League Cup tie with Kendal County washed out by the weather. That followed hard on the heels of their postponed game at Millom seven days earlier.
Time off is something Borough boss Craig Milnes knows his side can ill-afford as he wants them to build up some momentum in a an effort to haul themselves away from their perilous position at the foot of the table.
“It’s a bit of a strange one because I have been told we are playing Milnthorpe as our scheduled opponents CMB have a cup match,” said Milnes.
“If that is the case then I will definitely be looking for us to pick up three points because they are in a similar position to us.
“We need to go on a bit of a run in the league and this could be our opportunity. I have a fully fit squad to choose from and after three weeks hopefully the players are going to be raring to play.”
Milnthorpe are one of three teams locked on nine points with Borough and Stonebridge being the other two.
Milnes accepts it will be difficult but will be keen for the club to gain revenge for a 3-2 defeat by Milnthorpe back in September when Borough had led 2-1 at one stage courtesy of a Jamie Melvin double.
“Apart from the top two there isn’t a million miles between the rest of the clubs in this divison,” added Milnes.
“Anybody is quite capable of beating everybody else which is why I want to see us pick up points in games like these.
“it isn’t ideal that we have seen our last two games postponed.
“It is frustrating and annoying and I feel that frustration just as much as the players do.
“It looks like a decent forecast for the weeknd so hopefully we can get the game on and hopefully kick start our season.”
