It’s almost time...the hills of the Calder Valley will be alive with The Sound of Music from next Tuesday, November 25!

St Michael’s Amateurs take the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic to the stage at St Michael’s Parish Hall from November 25 to November 29 inclusive.

The show will start each night at 7.15pm and there will also be a matinee on Saturday, November 29, at 2.15pm.

Produced by Eric Alston with musical direction by Peter Drinkel and choreography by Rowena Sweeney, the classic musical tells the story of the Von Trapp family, whose lives are upturned by the arrival of their governess, former nun Maria, and the rise of the Nazi Party in Austria with the annexation of that country

in Anschluss in 1938.

Featuring ever-popular numbers such as “How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?”, “Edelweiss”, “My Favorite Things”, “Climb Ev’ry Mountain”, “Do-Re-Mi”, “Sixteen Going On Seventeen” and the title song “The Sound of Music”, it remains a hit on stage and screen.

To give the maximum number of youngsters, especially the young children, the chance to take part, there will be two troops of Von Trapp children used in the show’s run.

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults, £8 concessionary rates and £5 for children under 16. They can be booked by calling the ticket hotline on 07717 128210.
