After ‘Happy Birthday’, ‘White Christmas’ is the most popular and most performed song in the world.

The Irving Berlin ditty inspired a film of that name and in recent years that film became a stage show.

It now tours the country in the festive season and this year it will be in Halifax thanks to Halifax Light Opera Society, running from November 26 to 29 at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax. There is plenty of Calder Valley interest in the show. Taking one of the two leading male roles is Todmorden’s Chris Stott, while the leading lady is Mytholmroyd’s Catherine Rice. Also in the cast is Todmorden performer, choreographer and director Rachel Rogers. The show is choreographed by Todmorden performer and choreographer Alex Townend.

It’s full of Irving Berlin classic songs with which most people will be familiar and lots of music and dancing. It features such classics as ‘Sisters’, ‘Blue Skies’, ‘How Deep Is The Ocean’, ‘I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm’ and, of course, ‘White Christmas.’
