A concert featuring the music of Franz Schubert will begin the ‘Antony and Friends’ 2015 series of informal chamber music concerts.
The concerts which are hosted by Antony Brannick are returning with a performance by guests Bridget Budge (contralto) and Daniel Bath (piano).
Antony said: “Bridget is an established singer with an excellent contralto voice. She has extensive experience of performing at the highest level and for this concert will be performing some of the best known of Schubert’s German lieder, which will include items such as the Erl-king, Death and the Maiden, and To Music.
“Daniel is well known for his versatility as a musician and will be providing the piano accompaniment to the songs. In addition to some other shorter works Daniel and I will be performing the great F minor Fantasy for piano duet, one of Schubert’s finest works.”
In keeping with the informality of the evening, the performers will also be talking about the works being performed.
The concert will take place on Saturday 24th January at 7.30 pm in the Central Methodist Church, Todmorden.
All are welcome. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided. A retiring collection will be taken.
