Upper Valleys Autistic Adults group has new home after efforts were made to sort out an affordable venue for meetings.
Meetings have started for 2015 at Hope Baptist Church in New Road, Hebden Bridge town centre.
The group is open to any adult on the autism spectrum, but is not open to parents, carers or professionals unless on the spectrum themselves or directly supporting someone to attend.
A spokesperson said: “In other words, it is genuine, unobserved, autistic space!
“It is run by and for autistic people. The aims of the group are mutual social support, promoting autistic self advocacy, and supporting each other to participate in both local and wider autism awareness activities.
“Although it is often difficult for autistic people to brave a group setting, most of our members have found the group accepting and welcoming.
“We look forward to welcoming new members and to the return of those who have previously attended. We are suggesting a voluntary donation of around £1 per attendee towards room hire, from those who are able and comfortable to make a small financial contribution.”
