Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Stephen Steinbrink will be playing a completely free, one-off gig in Todmorden as part of the UK leg of his European 2015 tour.

The US-based artist, who has released seven full albums since 2007, will play at the Three Wise Monkeys, on Saturday, February 21, at 8pm, as part of a four date stint which will also take in Manchester’s The Roadhouse, London’s Waiting Room and Bristol’s The Lantern.

Having been brought up in Phoenix, Arizona, Steinbrink has spent most of his adult life (and a great deal of his youth), travelling the world in Greyhound buses and European trains playing to audiences wherever they will listen. Now signed to Melodic records, the songwriter’s latest release, ‘Arranged Waves’, has been lauded by critics since its release in May 2014, having been heavily featured in the NME.

The Manchester-based record label with whom he is now paired, run by Todmorden’s own David Cooper, has it’s base of operations in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and features a diverse range of artists.

The 26-year old Steinbrink, who has been touring across North America and Europe for nearly a decade, utilises distinctive falsetto vocals and an abstractly tuned finger picked guitar to capture his distinctive pop sound.

The event is free to attend though organisers are encouraging people to get down early as the songwriter always pulls in a large crowd. The restaurant and bar will be open as normal. For more details visit www.facebook.com/melodicrecordings
