Last week Richard Parkes from Calder Creative, Bespoke Picture Framers in Todmorden, presented a reframed photo collage to the landlady of the town’s Jack’s House pub, Sue Landale, and regulars.

The collage is of photos of Corporal Jack Stanley, a past pupil at Todmorden High School and a regular at Jack’s House, who died in April 2012 from injuries sustained in Afghanistan following an explosion in February of that year.

He had joined The Queen’s Royal Hussars in December 2003 and was described as “a most outstanding soldier who was an inspiration to all.”

Jack socialised a lot at the pub, on Burnley Road, playing for its football team in a promotion-winning season and spending some of his leisure time in the town when on leave.

Remembered fondly in the pub by the friends who continue to miss him, a collection of photographs of him kept there is now in tip-top order thanks to Richard’s re-framing work.

Richard said: “Jack fought for his country and gave his life - the least I could do was to reframe the photos the pub had collected of him.”
