Anya Sayer, who has dedicated 12 years to Scouting in Todmorden has received a national award for her good work.
Anya has volunteered with 20th Todmorden Scouts and at the annual Gang Show – an opportunity for young people in scouting and guiding to perform on stage.
Anya has bought a huge amount of creativity and passion to scouting and will be greatly missed after emigrating with her family (her husband is scvouting stalwart Jon) to Australia earlier this year.
The Award of Merit is given to volunteers who have not only given their time for over a decade, but who have also shown keen, conscientious and imagination in the activites and opportunities they have offered to young people.
The citation on her award sums it up by saying: “Anya Sayer embodies all that the movement desires from its Leaders and more, she has dedication, skill creativity in abundance ...Todmorden, Pennine Calder and the community as a whole that I heartily recommend her for the Award of merit.”
