West Yorkshire’s Acting Chief Constable Dee Collins saw local police officers and several local organisations and projects at work when she visited the Calder Valley last Friday.
Acting Chief Constable Collins inspected the growing beds run by Incredible Edible Todmorden with local community groups - at Todmorden Police Station among other areas - and learned more about the Incredible Aqua Garden, which is at Todmorden High School.
Then at St Mary’s Church, she met Sandra Peach and team who spoke about the Indepepndent Living and associated Independent Nightlife project, which is a group for adults with learning disabilities, encouraging acceptance and integration into the local community - which is one of the Mayor of Todmorden Coun Michael Gill’s charities this year.
The policing team joined Independent Living members and volunteers for afternoon tea. They were delighted to welcome the officers and it gave them an opportunity to thank them for the support they received from West Yorkshire Police. Independent Living also says: “A big thanks to Tracey, Tracey, and Marion for serving the tea and washing up.”
Calder Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team’s Inspector Rachel Bairstow, PC Ryan Stockton and Sgt Robert Saxon were the officers accompanying Acting Chief Constable Collins to the various projects.
