Two-day folk festival tickets will go on sale

The very first Todmorden Folk Festival opens tomorrow night with events at The Fielden Centre, Jack’s House and The Golden Lion, leaving the organising committee with the best of headaches.

All the Friday ticketed events are sold out due to the capacity of the venues, but there are still spaces available for all the Saturday and Sunday concerts.

With this in mind, and trying to keep the festival entry costs at a realistic level, the festival committee have decided to issue two day weekend tickets which will allow entry into all of the events, concerts and workshops on Saturday and Sunday, for the reduced price of only £20. This reflects the fact that these ticket holders will not have been able to get to the Friday night gigs.

Lynne Midwinter of the organising committee said: “We realised that due to capacity issues we could not sell any more full weekend tickets, but we still had some spare capacity for the rest of the weekend events, and so the decision was made to sell a two day weekend ticket to allow people to gain access to all of the concerts on the Saturday and Sunday at a reasonable price.”

The new tickets will be available from 10am on Saturday morning and can only be purchased from the box office at Central Methodist Church on Bramsche Square, with the cost being £20 for adults and £7 for under 16s if accompanied by a full paying adult. Individual concert tickets will still be available on the door at all events, assuming that there are any left!

Programmes for the full weekend are still available around the town with a full listing, and organisers stress that even with the release of the new weekend tickets, numbers are limited. More at www.todfolkfest.co.uk
