Age UK Todmorden is encouraging everybody in the area to support its fundraising activities on Bobble Day 2013.

The charity shop on Halifax Road, Todmorden, will be holding a bake sale on Friday from 9am to help raise funds for Age UK to promote warmth for older people.

Holly Whitlock, shop manager at Age UK Todmorden, said: “Taking part in Bobble Day is simple and fun.

“Whether people join us at our bake sale or organise their own winter warming activity, everyone will be helping to raise vital funds for people in later life. We want to encourage as many people as possible in Todmorden to get involved and help us to warm up Britain this winter.”

For anyone who is unable to attend on the day, there are plenty of other ways to take part in Age UK’s Bobble Day - all you need need to do is something warming.

People are encouraged to wear woolly jumpers to work, hold a tea morning or wrap up for a bracing winter walk.

Fluffy bobbles are available from Age UK shops for a suggested donation of £1.

Money raised from Bobble Day 2013 will go towards Age UK’s Spread the Warmth campaign.

Paul Farthing, fundraising director at Age UK, said: “By getting involved in Bobble Day, people in Todmorden can help us combat the problems that too many older people face in winter.”
