A fantastic day was had by all who attended the Anti Bullying Training Day at Todmorden Town Hall on May 19.
More than 100 pupils from ten schools were represented at the day, and received training on how to combat bullying in its many forms.
They join a network of over 10,000 young people who have been trained by The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors Programme.
The training was organised by Theo Hewson Betts, 13, who is currently a youth board member for the charity and was funded by a grant from Todmorden Town Council and other fundraising events.
Theo said: “I can see my dream of Todmorden becoming a bully-free zone happening before my eyes today!
“These young people being trained is just the start of it and I am so excited for what is going to happen next in their schools and communities.
“I wanted to provide the training free so that it would be accessible to as many schools as possible and the grant meant I could do that. ”
Frankie Spivey from The Anti Bullying Ambassadors trust said: “We are all really proud of Theo.
“He is so amazing and inspirational.”
The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors Programme , and Theo, will continue to offer support and help to the schools who went through the training day and over time work with them to help combat bullying in all its forms.
As well as the council funding, Theo and his family and friends undertook other events to help raise the amount of money necessary to take his ideas for the training day and follow-ups forward.
This included a bag-packing collection day at Morrison’s supermarket in Rochdale Road, Todmorden, where customers helped Theo to meet his fundraising target.
