Over the May half term holidays the 8th/26th Scouts and Explorers went of a three-day narrowboat trip, using the Guides’ narrowboat ‘Spirit of Guiding’.
The boat was picked up from Sowerby Bridge, and we got as far as Saville Town on the Calder and Hebble canal.
During a very enjoyable (and surprisingly energetic) trip the Scouts and Explorers were able to practise their skills at piloting the boat and operating locks.
Not to be outdone, instead of their usual Thursday evening meeting, the 8th/26th Cubs went for a hike up to Stoodley Pike, enjoying fine weather and glorious views across to Todmorden, Hebden Bridge and Heptonstall.
The group likes to offer a varied range of activities, during regular meetings and during school holidays.
