Last wicket pair Dave Jones and Jamie Hothersall were the heroes as Luddenden Foot stunned visitors Bridgeholme in the Foster’s Halifax League.

The Eastwood side started the day second in Division One while Foot were next to bottom. Bridgeholme had also won the first meeting three weeks earlier by eight wickets after some dazzling bowling from Nazakat Ali.

They looked set for another 12 points when Foot slumped to 113 for nine in pursuit of the visitors’ 174 all out.

However, Jones (45 no) and Hothersall (29 no) added 65 to grab the spoils for Foot.

Earlier, Ali (53), Ollie Challis (46) and Zaheer Abbas (29) had been the only Bridgeholme batsman to make double figures, Ollie Hemingway taking four for 44.

Booth followed up their Parish Cup success over Thornton six days earlier with a one wicket success over the same foes in the Premier.

Thornton must have fancied their chances after racking up a healthy 293 for six with Greg Soames (74), Nikki Hutchinson (70), Mick Shanks (53) and Josh Hutchinson (59) thrashing the bowlers.

However, Robert Laycock crashed a boundary-laden 134 and Usman Saghir contributed 53 in a total of 295 for nine after they had been 52 for five at one stage.

Third-placed Mytholmroyd had a comfortable four wicket success over struggling Southowram.

Jack Earle (five for 39) and Amjid Amzam (three for 29) gave the visitors little respite, although Ian Gledhill’s defiant 40 and 20 from fellow lower order man Tom Belfield kept them interested at 148.

It was a case of steady away for ‘Royd who had Steve Senior top-scoring with 39.

The top versus bottom clash in Division Two predictably finished in Outlane’s favour as they trounced Old Town by 104 runs.

Alex Blagborough’s 101 and Calum Westwood’s 59 helped Outane to 252 for nine.

Anwar Shaukatt (five for 35) and Simon Ainley (three for 67) then dismissed Town for 148.
