Don’t be brassed off by having nothing to do this weekend - have a cracking time as the Electric Palace in Todmorden cranks up more fantastic free film fun.
On Saturday there’s a triple bill of Wallace & Gromit tales featuring ‘The Wrong Trousers’, ‘A Close Shave’ and ‘A Matter of Loaf and Death’.
The Plasticine northerners with a penchant for cheese and wacky inventions will be taking to the screen at The Hippodrome at 2pm and the PG-rated films will be shown back to back with an occasional break, say Electric Palace cinema organisers.
On Sunday the Piece Hall, Halifax, and other Yorkshire settings will feature in the acclaimed movie Brassed Off (15), which stars the late Pete Postlethwaite.
Sunday’s film at the community cinema starts at 7.30pm and is the tale of a pit closing down, which spells the end for the brass band too.
There are lots of opportunities to volunteer and get involved - being an usher, selling sweets, tea and coffee, helping to publicise future films and researching films to show. For details contact Lou Birks at cinema@todhip.org
