The coolest place in Britain is about to show music is key to its appeal as internationally renowned performers arrive for its first Piano Festival.
After months of planning, the Hebden Bridge Piano Festival will be launched on Friday at the town hall.
It will continue throughout the weekend and feature an impressive array of talented musicianship, virtuoso technique and, above all, some of the greatest piano music ever written.
Festival organiser Dave Nelson said: “It’s been a long haul, but I think that we have everything in place and are ready to go.
“I’m now very excited about the weekend.
“There’ll be superb piano music and internationally respected players like Martin Roscoe, Aisa Ijiri and Anthony Goldstone coming to Hebden Bridge to perform it.
“Not only that, but there’ll definitely be a festival in 2014 too, so I’m also very pleased about that.”
The three-day event will cater for all musical tastes, with concerts ranging from classical to jazz, performed by musicians from Hebden Bridge to Japan.
The festival will begin with Henry Botham performing New Orleans rhythm and blues in the town hall cafe bar on Friday at 6pm.
There will be a total of 13 concerts, concluding with Martin Roscoe’s performance in the Waterfront Hall on Sunday night.
Dave said: “Martin Roscoe is a consummate performer more than capable of providing a superb finale to what should be an equally superb and memorable festival.”
Tickets, including weekend passes, are available from the box office in the town hall foyer today (Thursday) between 11am and 3pm, and then from 11am each day during the festival.
Tickets can also be booked online at the festival website, www.hebdenbridgepianofestival.com.
