Todmorden will try to put last weekend’s frustrations behind them with what skipper Andrew Sutcliffe describes as “two really good games to look forward to” on Saturday and Sunday.

The Centre Vale Park side managed less than 42 overs in last weekend’s double programme and most of the other Lancashire League clubs were also badly hit.

Tod’s match at Colne on Saturday was one of five non-starters and the game was called off before 1pm.

Sutcliffe’s side made 154 before play was washed out at home to Enfield on Sunday, when all the league’s games perished. The programme has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 24.

Sunday’s action took place in light rain but Elliott Gilford brightened proceedings with a top score of 46. “His knock was really impressive as the rest of the top order struggled to deal with the seaming ball,” said Sutcliffe.

Tod now turn their attentions to a trip to Ramsbottom on Saturday and then a home game against Haslingden in the Worsley Cup on Sunday.

Sutcliffe said: “Ramsbottom are one of the strongest sides in the league and the games between us are always competitive.

“ We will be without Ben Sutcliffe, who has been our strongest batsmen by far so far this season, but he will be available for the Sundays game.

“Haslingden is the same first round fixture as last year , and to be honest they destroyed us at home, so this year we are out for revenge.

“ It will be a tough game as they have some very good players but hopefully we will come out on the right side of the result.”

The captain is hoping seamer Gideon Foster will be able to play in both games after having his damaged finger checked out at hospital tomorrow.
