Calder High School students have won a writing competition aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues.
Maya I’Anson and Mateusz Maciocha were among the winners of the competition, organised by Thomson Reuters to mark Earth Day 2013, and were presented with prizes by local author Andrew Bibby.
Miles Hutchinson, director of UK legal content operations at Thomson Reuters, said: “The level of imagination shown in the writing has been superb and we’d like to thank all the pupils that took part in the competition.”
Emma Hartley, year eight teacher at Calder High School, said: “We were delighted to read the entries from so many young people. There were some excellent pieces but we could only chose three winners.”
