Bridgeholme’s hopes of a Parish Cup upset were ruthlessly snuffed out by Foster’s Halifax League Premier Division visitors Bradshaw.
The Eastwood side had hopes of earning a trip to Northowram Hedge Top after making a respectable 265 off their 45 overs before play was washed out on May 12.
However, they were unable to take a single wicket when Bradshaw replied last Sunday, trying 10 bowlers in vain.
Richard Moore made 144 not out and Steve Beck 112 not out as Bradshaw wrapped up a 10-wicket win in the 39th over.
The Calder Valley still has an interest in the second round, Booth having avenged last year’s semi-final defeat by Low Moor on the original date and Mytholmroyd having had a first round bye. Booth will host Oxenhope and Mytholmroyd travel to holders SBCI on Sunday, June 2.
There was frustration for Booth and Mytholmroyd last Saturday when their clash was the only one in the top section of the Foster’s Halifax League not to take place after rain.
Other casualties were the Division One fixtures involving Bridgeholme at Queensbury and Oxenhope at home to Southowram. It was also unfit for Old Town’s home game with Stones but it was a good day for Division Two leaders Luddenden Foot.
Their firsts were comfortable eight-wicket winners away to a 10-man Greetland side.
Mahboob hit 52 in Greetland’s 124 all out and took the two Foot wickets to fall but openers Richard Pinder (40) and Chris Roy (38) put on 85 in reply and late call-up George Ashton (33 no) finished it.
Foot’s seconds stole a march on their rivals when Greeetland failed to raise a team and the other games in their section were washed out.
