New family venture adds gallery space

Lifelong Todmorden residents, father-and-daughter team Richard and Rhiannan Parkes are opening their bespoke picture framing business, Calder Creative, in larger premises this weekend to include gallery space.

Their interest in picture framing started when Richard began framing cross stitch pictures many years ago for family and friends.

The new premises, at Hazelwood Street Works, Todmorden, will be opened on Friday evening at 6pm by Mary Clear MBE and the workshop will be open all weekend for members of the public to view the gallery which is exhibiting work by three local artists, Hannah Thurman, an embroidery artist, Gary Thomas, a ceramacist and fine artist and Christine Nichol, acrylic on canvas.

Members of the public are welcome to view the free exhibition on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 3pm and to talk to the team about their framing requirements.

After this the gallery and workshop will be open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am to 4pm and other times by appointment.

For more details about the framing service or the gallery, contact Calder Creative on 07530 499659.
