A village’s new community building will be the base for a new series of belly dancing classes.
And you don’t have to have shaken your midriff to music previously either - this is a class for beginners only, says organiser Jan Ibn Sina.
The six-week course begins on July 2 at The Old Library at Parkside Road, Cornholme, which has been converted into community space. The beginners class will run from 6.30pm to 7.15pm.
The cost is £3 per session, although if you sign up for all six sessions you can save a week’s fee with a special full-course rate of £15. For more details you can ring Jan on 07900 270320.
The building has been bought by the Community Foundation for Calderdale which leases it to the Old Library Group, who have refurbished it so the premises can once again be used as a public building.
The group was awarded £49,600 from the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) in December to fund the project, bringing the building, which had closed as a library several years ago, back into community use.
Jan said the belly dancing course there was an example of the range of things the building could be used for.
