This year’s Year 8 camp took place in Colomendy, Mold, North Wales at the end of May.
The 8Xs went the first half of the week from Monday to Wednesday. The 8Ys travelled up for the second half of the week, arriving on the coach the X’s went home on.
Pupils took part in ten activities over the three days ranging from archery and fencing to kayaking and obstacle courses; all activities were led by qualified instructors at the centre. Within the busy schedule pupils had some free time, which was spent playing football, gathering around camp fires and watching films. All pupils were responsible for their own rooms and ensuring that they were clean.
Teachers nominated one member from their activity group as the camper of the week. This went to somebody who had worked hard throughout the week in activities, behaved exceptionally throughout and was an all round superstar. Staff nominated the following as campers of the week.
8X students: Qasim Khan, Zach Ashworth, Rose Bramley, Will Jackson, Crace Allaby, Charlie Graham, Curtis Jackson and Chris Bewell. 8Y students: Nathanael Kendall, Lucy Fowler, Molly Nylan, Andrew Glassbrook, Ben Gordon, Charlie Barnes and Zach Watson Through the wind, rain and the odd bits of sunshine, camp was very much enjoyed by all who attended.
The site staff commented on how well mannered and behaved our pupils were, they were a credit to the school.
Thanks to everybody involved and I’m sure the Year 7s will be looking forward to a fantastic experience at camp next year!
