Thieves have struck twice at a couple’s home in a matter of days and they are offering a reward for information which may lead to the return of goods that have been taken or the arrest of those responsible.

David and Suzanne Winfield have had more than £7,000 worth of goods taken by burglars who struck one day and returned a day later to take more on July 21 and 22 from their home at Stoodley Lane, Eastwood.

Mrs Winfield said much of what had been stolen was quite distinctive and the loss of some of it had left their 12-year-old son Sebastian in tears as the haul included his bike.

“We think people have been waiting about outside when we have been in the house,” she said.

Mrs Winfield said the couple had decided to offer a £500 reward for information given to Calderdale Police that led to the return of some of the goods or the arrest of those responsible. People could also ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Items taken include a red Polaris Predator 50 quad bike worth around £1,300 which has frame number RS3K05CX62022408, a blue and white mountain bike with frame number 11302GG0712M and which has had a couple of modifications, including a mud guard on the back and a trip computer attached to the handlebars worth around £800, £200 worth of Dewalt power tools, £2,000 worth of hand tools, £750 worth of bikes including a child’s royal blue BMX bike, two ladies’ cycles - one white with attachments for a basket at the front and one pink - and another bike. A new £400 hot towel cabinet had also been taken, she said.
