You’ll be in safe hands at this newly expanded beauty salon, as the treatment rooms are in the vault of a former bank.
The old NatWest building, on Rochdale Road, Todmorden, has been transformed into Tanz - Beauty at the Bank after it was bought by new owners.
The salon has relocated from its previous base on Halifax Road and has taken on more staff as it extends the range of services it provides.
Samantha Billington, part owner of the beauty salon, said the building’s new look has attracted lots of interest from the local community.
“We have had quite a few people coming in off the street to have a look,” she said.
“A lot of them said this used to be their bank and it looks so different now.
“There’s been a nice community spirit to get it up and open again.”
The salon was on Halifax Road for a year but when the team started extending its range of services, bigger premises were required.
“We went from strength to strength,” Samantha said.
“We started offering other things so needed to expand.
“We were attracted by the size and type of the building.
“With it being empty for so long it just seemed perfect to get it up and running again.
“It’s a bit different having your workspace in a safe.”
The interior of the building has been redecorated using artwork produced by local artists using mainly recycled materials.
“We’d like to say a big thanks to our clients, friends, family and local friendly people that have helped out and made an old lifeless building come back to life using reclaimed materials and taking it back to its original features,” Samantha said.
The salon has already taken on three new members of staff and will be creating other new job roles in the future.
It also has a large front room available to rent out to a new or existing business.
Tanz will be officially relaunched during a grand opening on Saturday from 1pm.
“To all businesses, clients new and old, please come and help us celebrate the grand opening,” Samantha said.
