Walsden C & FC picked up their first ever point in the Rochdale Online Alliance on Saturday when they drew 2-2 at home to Woodbank in the Premier Division.

They twice came from behind and had chances to win, even though they were down to 10 men for the last 20 minutes following the dismissal of Marc Walters.

Both Walsden goals came from back post headers after corners delivered by Danny Brown, James Rawlinson getting the first after 30 minutes and Paul Marrow the second midway through the second half.

Walters was red carded for kicking out after a flare-up but Walsden still pushed for a winner on the back of a good team performance.

Cameron Hanson played well at the back and Matthew Saxon made a promising debut up front while Josh and Joe Gale also made decent contributions.

Walsden were responding positively to a 6-0 defeat away to Balderstone in midweek.

They leaked three goals in the first quarter on the Kingsway Sports Centre 3G pitch and another three in the final 10 minutes after an incident in which the hosts were lucky to keep 11 players in the action.

Walsden were at home to lowly Star Athletic last night and then host Oldham Borough next Wednesday.
