University of the Third Age Todmorden is holding a coffee morning on Thursday, September 19, from 11am to 1pm at Central Methodist Church, Bramsche Square, Todmorden.

This will provide an opportunity for anyone interested to find out about the wide range of activities which the U3A offers, said a spokesman for the group.

If anyone wants to find out more they can attend the monthly meeting in the afternoon starting at 2pm when the guest speaker will be Chandra Law, who will be talking about “On Arriving in England”.

As well as the monthly meetings U3A runs more than 20 groups covering subjects such as art and crafts, science, philosophy, languages, world affairs, music, creative writing and poetry appreciation. It also has recreational activities such table tennis, badminton and walking, and there are purely social activities like the lunch club and coffee club. Art, craft and photography groups will be showing some of their work and representatives from all groups will be available to give information about their activities.

Todmorden U3A started in 2008 with 40 members and that number has now grown to more than 300 members from throughout the upper Calder Valley. Further information can be obtained by visiting the website www.u3atod.org or calling 01706 814137.
