The finest musicians in the folk world will be returning to Hebden Bridge as part of the annual Folk Roots event, based at the Trades Club but using other venues this year.

Long-standing favourites like Steve Tilston Trio and Maggie Boyle & Paul Downes are joined by relatively new faces like Martha Tilston, Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman.

The Trades Club is offering two full weekend tickets worth nearly £100 to one lucky reader in our competition.

Artistic director Dave Boardman is excited about some new acts on the bill.

“Like a lot of other young duos, Molly Jones and Lee Southall are redefining folk music by bringing together Molly’s folk heritage - she’s the youngest daughter of Steve Tilston and Maggie Boyle - with Lee’s rock and pop guitar craft. Lee was lead guitarist with The Coral for many years,” he said.

Tickets are available from the Trades Club, via www.hebdenbridge.co.uk/folkroots or http://www.wegottickets.com/f/4866

If you’ve already bought tickets you can still enter the competition as your admission will be refunded if you win, says Dave.

To enter, answer this question: Which Hebden Bridge venue was a finalist in this year’s NME small venue awards?

Email your answer, with your name and a daytime contact number, to: competitions@halifaxcourier.co.uk by noon on Thursday, November 1, putting “Folk Roots” in the subject bar.

Usual Johnston Press rules apply.
